THE BAHIA VISTA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MURAL

Bahia Vista Elementary School Mural

This mural was created by 4th graders at
Bahia Vista Elementary School
during a 14-week residency during Winter 2007-08.

Located at 125 Bahia Way in San Rafael's District.

Students from Old Mill School in Mill Valley, and Bahia Vista Elementary School in San Rafael have partnered together with Kid Serve and muralist Josef Norris in the creation of two stunning mosaic murals on the outside of both schools. The students worked as partners by exchanging penpal letters and ideas as they worked through the 3 month project, designing and creating two giant murals out of ceramics, mirror and mosaic tile.

This innovative service learning program bridges two very different populations of children in Marin through the creation of two large mosaic murals in their respective communities.

Dimensions: Panels: 4' high x 70' wide
7' high x 60' wide and 140' wide mosaic archway
Medium: Mosaic tile, ceramics, stained glass, mirror and colored grout.
